SHIRA DENTZ's new book of poems, black seeds on a white dish, has just been published by Shearsman Books and this event is the NY book launch! She is also the author of the forthcoming book door of thin skins (CavanKerry Press), and a chapbook, Leaf Weather (Tilt Press). Her poems and stories have appeared in The Brooklyn Rail, EOAGH, jubilat, Denver Quarterly, and Lungfull!, and have been featured on NPR. She is currently Poetry Co-Editor of Quarterly West, and finishing a Ph.D. at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City where she is a Fellow at the Tanner Center for the Humanities.
LAURA HINTON is the author of a poetry book, Sisyphus My Love (To Record a Dream in a Bathtub), (BlazeVox Books), and a critical book, The Perverse Gaze of Sympathy: Sadomasochistic Sentiments from Clarissa to Rescue 911 (SUNY Press). She is the co-editor of We Who Love to Be Astonished: Experimental Women's Writing and Performance Poetics (University of Alabama Press). She blogs at Chant de la Sirene (chantdelasirene.com). A Professor of English at the City College of New York, Hinton teaches contemporary literature, film and feminist theory, and also coordinates the InterRUPTions experimental-writers reading series.
