Nada Gordon and Malcolm Davidson have called me out regarding the spleen produced as of this weekend; it looks like I'll have to come up with some examples. Have to go rummage around in some "books" (what's that?) and come up with 'em. Hoisted with my own fantasies of unstated but implied work ethic! After all, Jurgen Habermas says "The new value placed on the transitory, the elusive and the ephemeral, the very celebration of dynamism, discloses a longing for an undefiled, immaculate and stable present." And Chuck E. Cheese is open late, too!
In the meantime, have I said anything about what a wonderful and incisive host Nada was at the Text/Styles event, and how grateful I was to be a part of it? Skillfully engineering a series of mannequin costume-changes and peppering the evening with lively introductions and commentary, she is well-suited for the role of impresario. All this, and she's only in her mid-twenties. I'm sort of having a slight attack of shyness with regards to the NY scene so far, but that evening felt pretty comfortable. Thanks for the introduction, N&G and to everyone else who has helped me feel welcome.
